Vancouver Wharves

The facility has been in operation since 1959 and now provides export capacity at four vessel berths with rail infrastructure connected to three class one railways.

The terminal has the capacity to accommodate Panamax class vessels with extensive rail infrastructure capable of receiving and unloading unit trains. The facility also has significant dry bulk and liquid storage capacity equipped with specialized conveyance and handling systems for efficient loading and discharging of ocean-going vessels and barges.

Since 1959, Vancouver Wharves has operated safely on the site owned by British Columbia Railway Company.

Servicing the mining, energy, and agricultural resource sectors, Vancouver Wharves handles more than four million tonnes of dry bulk cargo and more than six million barrels of liquids annually through Canada’s key western export trade gateway.

Key commodities handled:

• Export copper concentrates from B.C. mines
• Import zinc and lead concentrate for domestic smeltering
• Formed sulphur bulk exports
• Agricultural product exports
• Diesel and Renewable Diesel bulk liquids

The terminal facility also has covered storage for up to 500,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, 175,000 tonnes of sulphur stockpile capacity, and 650,000 barrels of diesel and renewable bio-diesel storage tanks.
